Pope Francis Appoints New Bishop for Richmond Diocese

RICHMOND, Va. -  With great joy, the Diocese of Richmond announces that the Holy Father, Pope Francis, appointed the Most Reverend Barry C. Knestout, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Washington, as the 13th Bishop of Richmond. The Mass of Installation was celebrated  Friday,  12 January 2018 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond. Learn more.

A short video of the Installation Mass of His Excellency, the Most Reverend Barry C. Knestout, has been uploaded to the diocese’s YouTube page. The roughly four-minute video provides a “highlight” of the special liturgy. This was truly a happy and faith-filled celebration and if were not able to attend, this short video gives you a brief overview of the Friday, 12 January event, which took place at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond.

Welcome to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church! We look forward to sharing our faith, activities, and fellowship with you. We also look forward to getting to know you and your many gifts that will hopefully be shared with us! If you have not done so already, we invite you to complete our new parishioner registration form. Registration forms are available on the cabinet by the front doors.

If you have been attending Mass and consider yourself a member of Blessed Sacrament, please ensure that you are registered.  For only then, can Blessed Sacrament write on your behalf to other parishes authorizing you to be a sponsor at a Baptism, or a witness at a wedding or even have the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Marriage conferred on yourself or members of your family.  Registration forms are available on the cabinet by the front doors.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

Through discussions, teachings and sharing of personal stories, participants will discover the traditions and lifestyles of the Catholic Religion. Involvement is done in a thoughtful, gradual approach without any pressure to commit. As you follow your faith journey with other inquirers, and a team of committed Catholics, you determine whether Catholicism is right for you. RCIA is for persons who have or have not been baptized as Christians and who have had little or no previous religious formation. If you are interested in finding out more about our RCIA process, please contact Rev. Mr. Derek Turrietta, dturrietta@blessed-sacrament.com. Please join us on Wednesdays, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm for our new sessions in January.  RCIA is for all who are  interested in learning more about our Catholic faith.

REVISED:  Join Blessed Sacrament’s Adult Faith Formation on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm. The winter session has been postponed due to the construction, start date coming soon. We incorporate directed video samples, lively small group discussion, and fruit of the vine libations.  The class sessions are one hour and free child care is provided.
