Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowls

On  Sunday, 22 February will be the kick-off day for our Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Rice Bowl collections.  Each classroom will have a rice bowl for donations.
What is CRS Rice Bowl?  CRS Rice Bowl is Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten faith-in-action program for
parishes, schools and families.  The program invites Catholics to live in solidarity with our poorest and most vulnerable brothers and sisters through the three Lenten pillars of praying, fasting, and almsgiving.
Participants journey throughout the forty days of Lent with the daily reflections included in the Lenten
Calendar, offering small, suggested sacrificial gifts to fill their Rice Bowls.  The last day of Rice Bowl collections will be Palm Sunday (Sunday, 29 March).  CRS has many family activities and resources online.  Here is the website if you would like to check it out:
What does CRS do with the money collected?  75 percent of your gift supports CRS’ programs around the world. Some examples include: Agriculture projects help farmers improve harvests, Water and sanitation projects bring clean water to communities, Microfinance projects support small businesses, Mother and child health projects offer health and nutrition services, Education projects provide resources and training
25 percent of your donations go to hunger and poverty alleviation efforts in your own community.
Please help your child fill the CRS Rice Bowl to benefit the poor!
