Grades K–5 Religious Education

Grades K – 5 Religious Education

Are you looking to be part of your child’s faith formation?  We are always happy for help!  Please contact Claire McCrary at  cmccrary@blessed-sacrament.com or (757) 423-8305 if you think you would like to teach or assist with religious education this year.

Our program helps each student respond to Jesus, instills the principles and practices of our Catholic Faith, and works in cooperation with you, the parent, to teach the GOOD NEWS!

Classes are held Sundays from 9:00 AM – 10:10 AM.   We meet in the Church for morning prayer and announcements’ then each class is dismissed to their classrooms.  Parents should pick their children up from the classroom at 10:10 AM.

Please complete the 2017-2018 Religious Education Registration Form and bring it to Blessed Sacrament to enroll in classes.  The fee for supplies and books is $35.00.

If you are registering your child for his/her First Reconciliation and Communion, please complete the 2017-2018 First Reconciliation and Communion Registration Form.  The fee is $40 for our First Reconciliation/Communion program.

Attendance

Please email Claire McCrary at cmccrary@blessed-sacrament.com or call the office at (757) 423-8305 if your child is to be absent.  Please do not email office@blessed-sacrament.com.   It is important that your child attend class.  Missed class work will be given for completion at home.  All our students are strictly monitored for attendance, particularly those in our Sacramental Classes.

Sacramental Programs

In the Diocese of Richmond, we celebrate the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and Communion during 2nd grade.  Confirmation is celebrated in 10th grade.  Please Contact Claire McCrary, 757-423-8305, for more information on First Reconciliation/Communion and the office, 757-423-8305, for more information on Confirmation.

In addition, we have a Sacramental Class (Reconciliation and Communion) for older students.  Please contact Claire McCrary at (757) 423-8305 for more information on this class.

MASS PARTICIPATION

If you are not attending Mass with your children, it is almost impossible for us to help them form a relationship with Jesus.  Please continue to pray with your children and ensure that they know the prayers appropriate for their age level.  We encourage you to attend the Sacrament of Reconciliation with your children.  Thus, your good example will lead them to value our faith in practice.
